Tasnim is a Renal registrar who took a year out of programme as a Clinical Leadership Fellow. Projects she worked on included:

  • the National Mortality Care Record Review (NMCRR) programme – an established national project looking at improving understanding and learning from deaths using a Structured Judgement Review.
  • Yorkshire Contributory Factors Framework- ongoing work with the Yorkshire Quality and Safety Research team looking at factors leading to patient safety incidents and encouraging changes in systems, structures and local working conditions within organisations to prevent further incidents.
  • Connected Health Cities- linking data from different NHS organisations to identify patterns of care and implement change. Tasnim hoped to look at Acute Kidney Injury in primary care and develop a tool leading to prevention and early detection in those at risk.

Tasnim was able to develop skills and knowledge to better understand quality improvement and patient safety, allowing her to make real and sustainable changes within the NHS as well as develop leadership skills during her time with the Improvement Academy.
